The Alamo

We went to the River Walk yesterday and ended up spending the night downtown. Of course we did go to the Alamo, one of my special places in San Antonio. The Alamo is so amazing and beautiful. I took some photos during the day and again at night. Use a Nikon D90 camera

Air Show

Air Show this weekend at Randolph AFB, TX but no big names are here (Blue Angels, Thunder birds or the Snow birds) I'm not going to fight the crowds to see them. The only thing that will be worth it is the F-22 fighter is doing a demonstration, which should be good.

HALLOWEEN 2009 PARTY

Had a super time last night with Halloween. Neighbors came over and we handed out candy and play with all the toys. Great time.

Summer About Over

Thanks god summer is about over. 59 days of 100 degrees or more this summer. Also the driest 24 month in history. (August 2007 till August 2009). 41" of rain below normal.

NEW CAMERA

Got a new camera last night. It a Nikon D90. Really looking forward to see how the pictures turn out. It is a great camera and have been playing with it this morning. Attached is one of the first pictures that was taken with it. Great camera.

51 Days of over 100 degrees with no relief in sight. New record for San Antonio, TX

CHRYSLER 300C

Finally got the 300C fixed. Had some dents in the doors from people in parking lots who don't have any consideration for other people property. Have to park in the south 40 just to keep the dents from getting on your cars.

HOT! HOT!

39 Days over 100 degrees temperatures . The new record of number of days since they start tracking the temperatures. Still have the forecast of over 100 degrees the rest of the week. No rain either, it is so dry and we are in stage 2 of water restrictions. Grass is dying fast.

Texas Summer

Today is the 24 days of over 100 degrees this summer and it is only the middle of July. This is the hottest summer since 1998. Going to be a long hot summer. We are in water rationing stage two.

Happy 4th of July 2009

Happy 4th of July. We went to Corpus Cristi for the weekend. Went to the aquarium but the walking got to us. It was very nice and it even rained while we was there. Had a free night and stayed in a Holiday Inn Express and was very nice. Had a wonderful time. Next trip we are going to see the USS Lexington aircraft carrier. It is docked in the harbor. Also went to Padre Island but didn't stay long, it was so hot 104 degrees.

Family Reunion

Just got back from Scott City, Kansas where we had our annual family reunion. Very small this year, my mother, my aunt Nella Funk, and the Four boys, Keith, Verle, Dan and myself were there. Had a very good visit and caught up with all the going on in everyone lives. My mother health is not real good. She is 97 now so it is not totally unexpected. Didn't take any pictures this year, don't know what happened but just didn't get the camera out.

Whole new life

Monday June 22, 2009. What to do first. Today is the first day of my time off. Have a list of things to do but what to do first.

Approved

My leave of absence has been approved. It will start on June 19, 2009. Getting excited and have several task already lined up to complete. I am also going to Scott City Kansas for a family reunion. My mother is 97 years old now and I always think this may be the last one before she passes.

Leave of Absence

I applied for a leave of absence at work today. Planning on taking about six week off to really see if I'm ready for retirement. If it works out I'll be retiring on Dec 31, 2010, when this program goes away and I'll have 30 years in with the company. If I'm bored and can't find anything to occupy my time I'll go back to work and work a few more years.

New Counter Tops

We had new granite counter tops installed today. They are very nice and love them. So much better than the other counter tops. It changes the whole look of the kitchen.

Maryland

I just got back from Lexington Park, Maryland where we attended our granddaughter High School Graduation. She was so wonderful and she was so beautiful. They had a graduation party for her on friday night and everything went good except it rained so we had to have it inside, but every thing went well.

Also attended a baseball game of my grandson Matt Keates. He plays catcher and love the sport.

Hump Day

It's Wednesday and only two more days till the weekend. Can't come soon enough. We are leaving for Maryland Saturday, May 23, 2009 for my granddaughter high school graduation. We will be coming home Saturday, May 30, 2009. I am getting so excited and anxious to see my granddaughter.

Of course we will eat a lot of sea food, that is something that we miss about not living in Maryland any more.

Trying to keep up with the posting on this blog. It's hard to do. I have also starting twitting on twitter and also have start a page on face book. Check them both out if you get a chance and let me know what you think

Knee Again

I've been having more problems with my right knee again. Some swelling and pain. Both ankles are swelling up like the last time I had tumors in my knee. Had two MRI and x-rays done on the knee and glad to report nothing there. Some arthritis and wear and tear on the knee cap but that is to be expected by my age. The doctor will following up in six months. So I guess that is good news.

Weather

Finally getting some rain today. It has been so long since we have had any measurable rain. We have gotten about one inch so far. We are on stage one water restriction and very close to stage two water restriction.

Went to the local gun show today to try and find a 30 round clip for my SKS rifle. No luck, but did see quite a few neat weapons.

Julia Keates

Julia Keates, my granddaughter is graduating from High School on May 28, 2009. We will be going to Maryland to attend her graduation and spend the week with her.

Update

It's been quite a while since I have updated this bog. I will make an effort to update on a regular basis.
